My First Blog Post
| posted by Tanya BabcockGood morning!
This is my first attempt at a blog, and I am nervous about how my ideas and reflections will be taken in a public forum such as this. My hope is each idea will be part of an intelligent debate and a growth of ideas.
First question, why should I even embark on such an endeavor?
Second question, who would even be interested in what I have to say?
I'll address the first question with saying I want to grow my career. I want to be known as a capable individual in my field with wonderful ideas, questions, and a marked curiosity for the new and exciting.
I have been in new media for ten years. I remember the dawn of Java, and the allure of throwing a website up on the internet with nothing more than a Microsoft Word document! I've welcomed the Web 2.0 concepts with open arms and await the new technologies with a sense of Christmas morn. And here I hope to share the excitement with others like me, or even those unlike me who dread the next, newest idea.
Finally, why would anyone be interested in what I have to say? I am a student - forever! I roam the internet, book stores, and journal articles in search of ideas and wisdom. One of my favorite authors, Maya Angelou, wrote in her autobiography "Heart of a Woman," that wisdom can be found couched in the most surprising places. I strive for the moments where a random person feeds me a crumb of knowledge. I awake hoping to read an expert, or a novice, who will have a different way of looking at an opportunity. I want to share those nuggets here in this forum.
I have been very successful in my career thus far. I have created online campaigns which drove traffic to the company website three fold over the prior years. I have doubled traffic in one month with viral eMarketing campaigns. And I have tied each endeavor in the eWorld to real world results, brand preservation, and careful planning about the leap I was about to take.
The lessons I have learned, and the ones I will learn in the future may prove useful to many who are just embarking in the field or those in it for just too long.
Please respond to the blog with any questions or comments. I look forward to the collaboration and hope to keep up with a bi-weekly publishing schedule.
