One of the key ways to improve your Father of the Bride speech is to include vivid language. When you are describing your lovely daughter you want to avoid cliche descriptions and focus on unique adjectives because your daughter is in fact unique.

One of the most
effective ways of keeping the attention of the wedding audience is by using memorable images. Images have a tendency to linger in the mind
whereas words can be easily forgotten.
For example, think about Winston Churchill's description of the people
living under communism. He declared that they are living under an “Iron
Curtain.” He could have just as easily
described the political ideology in a bland manner. He could have said these people are living in a “socioeconomic structure that
promotes the establishment of a classless society based on common ownership of
the means of production.” However, the phrase “Iron Curtain” stays in the mind
and will continue to be in the vocabulary of mankind for generations to come.
Your job as a
wedding speaker is to paint pictures with the written word and to add color and
texture by way of emotion and passion.
For example, don't merely say that your daughter was “nervous about starting her new job.” You want to use vivid imagery. Rather, you would say
“awaiting the decision of her recruiter, the beads of sweat formed on my daughter's
brow as she munched on his fingernails. She sat frozen in her chair looking like
a teenager awaiting judgment in the vice principals office.”
