Candidate from Hell

I find this guy's resume on HotJobs and offer him an opportunity to interview for my open position. I picked him, among others, because his resume looked good. He declines and tells me he doesn't think he's qualified. Ok, so at that point I should have accepted the answer, right? Of course I didn't. I wrote back meaning to encourage him to come in anyway -- but my message was off key. The guy writes me back and blasts me for not properly reading his resume and calls me ignorant for some wording I used in the job description. Again, I should have stopped responding. I write back and tell him he shouldn't be so angry and that he missed out on a great job with great pay. He then accuses me of unethical behavior.

I don't think I've ever run into this reaction. you offer a guy a shot at a great job and end up feeling like a dope. Let's hope the rest of my candidates are a little easier to work with.
