When Charter Steel, a producer of over a million tons of steel products per year, needed to renovate their forging department's concrete floors, naturally a primary objective was safety. But also, this Ohio steel mill wanted a floor that was environmentally friendly. What they discovered once installed was that their new, technologically-advanced floors were not only safer and environmentally greener, but they also required less maintenance and looked noticeably better.
"Sometimes it's just the right thing to do" says Matt Schroeder, Sr. Environmental Engineer for Charter Steel. The idea came from the Facility Director, Dave Light who was instrumental in specifying the new environmentally friendly flooring system called DiamondQuest.
