"Playstation network affords the exact same social networking as xbox live"
Probably so, but a Zune also plays music just like an iPod.
I own both the PS3 and the Xbox. The PS3 sits there collecting dust
and the Xbox is a thriving online community no matter which game you
pop in. You may wish everyone used the PS3 over the Xbox as the
online/offline group, and I respect that
Sony's best move right now would be to pour as much money into the PS4 as they can and beat everybody else to the market.
They lost out on this generation, and nothing will bring that back.
It should be very important to note that PS3 came out a full year
*AFTER* XBOX 360, which pretty much gave MS a leap in the next gen
console market and allowed themto capture those innovation seeker users
and key influencers among the video gamer demographic.
All you need to do is look at how XBOX 360 had a full year on PS2 in the market before Sony got to launching PS3.
Throughout the history of video game consoles the "winner" in any given
generation tends to be the one with the most robust games library.
Hence the Wii and even the Xbox 360 have done well despite their
different shortcomings. Sony has a heck of a good hardware platform but
they've spent too much time focused on the hardware and not enough time
on the community... The economy certainly did not help either.
