On September 11, I had the pleasure of leading East Aurora High’s 12th annual March Against Violence. Before the march, I spoke to the audience about From the Barrio to the Board Room and my own anti-violence message. I then introduced Jim Oberweis and announced that his foundation, the Oberweis Foundation, had donated 1,000 copies of my book to the school. The audience cheered loudly…there must have been over 300 students in attendance! We then marched through the community, the students holding homemade signs and chanting “Stop the violence!”

It was great to make such a huge impact on the kids and give many of them the opportunity to get the book. I am grateful to Jim Oberweis for making this generous gift possible. My hope is to put this book into the hands of every student in the entire school district and beyond. Thanks to the Oberweis Foundation, we are one step closer to reaching this goal!
