A Zone of Discovery

Cecily Sommers, futurist and founder of the Push Institute, addressed PUSH attendees Monday morning to set the tone and pace for the next two days. She prodded complacency and demanded future-oriented questions for the duration of the conference and beyond. Sommers said, "We want to
understand the experience that IS the world in which we live so that we can make good decisions."

The idea underlying the conference's theme, "The Fertile Delta," is to create a
zone of discovery in which we can uncover the opportunities created by polarization. Globalization and sustainability are two themes speakers will touch on that will also be embodied by attendees; the multi-national audience will participating in a green PUSH conference this
year.

Preparations for the future are not only risky, but incredibly important. Yet without
risk-taking and question-asking, the next fifteen years will be superficial and without meaningful gain. So at PUSH 2008, the idea is to uncover the power to make intelligent decisions and invent new models for the future in a globalized world.
