Looking to get the best brows on a budget?  If aren’t able to get to a professional eyebrow shaping expert, then try some of my simple tips for shaping and cleaning your eyebrows.  Over the years, I have been asked many questions on the art of brow shaping.
It’s my dedication and understanding that brows can give beauty, and
take it away, that drives my passion for eyebrow shaping.

Below are some of the questions readers have written in as well as
questions I have been asked during interviews about beauty and brows.
I hope you enjoy the information and as always, your personal questions
are always welcomed. Email me at info@dayspaexpert.com.

Q: How do you know what kind of brow work best for a particular person?

A: Eyebrow shapes are not determined by people,
they are determined by our features and facial structure.  Bone
structure as well as the size, shape and position of our eyes, nose,
cheeks etc help determine what shape and width would best suit an
individual. This is why it is important not to always follow trends.

Q: What trends do you see in brows?

A: Today’s brows are playing a bigger role than
ever in a woman’s beauty, and rightfully so.  Eyebrows frame our face
and are the crowing jewel for our eyes.  Today I see women leaving more
of their natural brow’s thickness in place.  I used to see women who
would pluck and tweeze their eyebrows until there was only thin, pencil
like lines left. I never understood this.  A fuller, more defined brow
is in today, but again, it won’t look right on everyone.

Q: What are  the biggest ‘don’ts’ for eyebrows

A: The biggest mistake a woman can make with her
brows is to follow a trend. I never recommend drastic changes to the
eyebrows. I always follow what nature has given, and then make subtle
improvements to clean and enhance the shape that is already there.  If
someone has straight eyebrows, I can not give them a dramatic arch.  I
can work with their brow to help enhance their arch so that it brings
out their eyes and facial features.

Q: Is there a mistake you see people making often with their eyebrows?

A: Over-plucking is one of the biggest mistakes I
see.  It starts with just a few hairs, and before you know it, half of
their eyebrow is gone.  Eyebrows can be stubborn, they don’t always
grow back as fast as we would like, and sometimes they do not grow back
at all.  I always tell people, be careful what you pull out, because it
might not come back!

Q: Can people ‘change’ their style of brow … does it ever make sense to?

A: We should’nt really ‘change’ our eyebrows. Like
I said, we can enhance the brows, help define the arch better, clean up
stray hairs to create a more defined line, but we essentially can not
change them. Our facial features determine where our eyebrows should
begin and end, and where the peak of the arch should be.  If we start
changing all of that around, our brows will not be in harmony with the
rest of our face.

Q: Can people use their brows to balance their face and/or help them look younger … how?

A: Yes definitely. There are so many ways.
Knowing where the brows should start and end will help bring out our
truest symmetry.  Cleaning up bushy eyebrows dramatically opens the eye
area and creates more clean space on the brow bone, giving the
appearance of a wider eye.  Wider eyes can help us look years younger.

The first thing I do when I see a client for eyebrow shaping at my NJ Spa is study their face straight on.  I observe their facial features
and take a mental measurement of the structure of their face.
Remember, eyebrows do not come in a ‘one size fits all’ strategy.  That
is why I do not recommend people bring in photos of eyebrows that they
want.  So try to avoid cutting out pictures of your favorite
celebrity’s eyebrows and duplicating them.  Chances are, these eyebrows
will not look good on your face.
