Another reason towax your body instead of shaving; folliculitis. Otherwise known as razor bumps. According to NJ skin care expert, Valentina Chistova, folliculitis is an inflammation of the hair follicle that appears as aneruption of skin surrounding a hair or pore. Usually red bumps, or little pus bumps, characterize thedisease known to many as razor burn.
There is no ‘cure’for folliculitis, although there are treatments that can be prescribed to helpclear an aggressive outbreak. Eliminating external aggravating factors, such as shaving, is the bestoption for long term control.
Waxing has manybenefits over shaving. Forstarters, shaving cuts the hair, so it has a flat tip that sometimes hastrouble poking through the skin — this can cause ingrown hairs and irritations.Waxing pulls out the hair completely from the root, so when it grows in, it hasa natural, pointed tip that can poke through skin easier.
After waxing, you’llbe smooth for about 2 weeks or more, depending on how fast your hair grows, asopposed to shaving which will only leave you smooth for about a day or so.
