A recent study done by the University of Floridahttp://www.ufl.edu,
along with researchers from the University of Wisconsin, revealed that
antioxidants could help protect against hearing loss. The test
identified a protein that appears to be the key cause of oxidative
damage to cells, which results in hearing loss. One way to protect
yourself from this oxidative damage is to eat foods rich in
antioxidants.

One popular theory related to aging says that damage to oxidative cells caused by free radicals harms the mitochondria,
the energy center of cells. After months and years of continual damage,
proteins in the mitochondria are released and cause cells to die. This
essentially leads to a host of physical effects associated with aging
-- including hearing loss.

Make sure to visit your local professional audiologist
to see if you or a loved one suffers from hearing loss. It is important
to catch the symptoms of hearing loss and treat it before its too late.
