Nissan Rogue SL 2WD

The 2009 Nissan Rogue is pleasant. You look at it — pleasant. You
drive it — pleasant. Here's a little crossover SUV that isn't really
outstanding in any area, yet seldom disappoints. Instead, the Rogue
does most things well enough that it adds up to a very pleasant total.
While it lacks the utility and passenger space of some competitors,
this handsomely dressed Nissan compensates with its athletic character,
relatively frugal fuel consumption and avant-garde style.

Lotus Elise SC:Function

The interior of the 2008 Lotus Elise is pretty bare-bones. The
instrument cluster is relatively easy to read, but don't look for the
redline on the tachometer. The Elise uses a series of shift indicator
lights that come on sequentially as the engine reaches higher rpm,
which tell the driver when to shift. Also, the digital fuel gauge makes
it a bit tough to guess exactly how much gas is left, which can be
nerve-wracking in a car with a mere 10.6-gallon tank.

Audi A5

Comfort

We weren't overly enthused with our Audi's seats, however, as the
front chairs are notably lacking in lateral support, and there's no
adjustable lumbar support for the front passenger. Moreover, the A5's
backseat is mostly for show — rear head- and legroom are inadequate for
average-size adults.

2009 Kia Borrego V8 4WD

The theory is that despite the drastic rise in fuel costs, there
are still plenty of upper-middle-class suburbanites who want a
body-on-frame SUV to shuttle the family, haul supplies from the Home
Depot and pull the speedboat to the lake. And instead of buying the
biggest thing they can find, consumers will settle for a midsize SUV
that can do it all without guzzling quite so much gas. While we're not
sure we buy into this hypothesis, we must admit the 2009 Kia Borrego
has its merits, despite our uncertainty of how it will be received in
this jittery market.
