Christmas Ideas To Save Money

We have now moved into October and its getting harder to deny that Christmas is just around the corner yet again. With belts are quite tight around finances for many people, its sometimes hard to know what to do for Christmas as far as buying gifts is concerned.

There are a couple of options. One would be to agree between friends/family not to buy presents at all, or just for the kids maybe. Some of my friends have an arrangement whereby they each put their names into a hat and make a donation. They then draw one name from the hat and that person gets a really nice gift, instead of everyone getting tat which will be put in a cupboard by Dec 27th.

One idea I'm toying with at the moment is hampers. The great thing about hampers is that if shop ones are too expensive, or not suitable, it is really easy to make them individually tailored. Even better if you are creative in the kitchen or at craftwork.
