Because purchasing a house requires such an enormous financial commitment, it can be one of the most hectic times in a home buyer's life. It is very much recommended that a buyer finds a buyer's Realtor to make this financial commitment not so hectic. When interviewing a real estate agent, you must ask these questions:
An untested agent may be okay for basic purchases, like condos or townhomes. However, for most transactions, you want to look for somebody who has at least 5 years of experience. It's not too hard to become a licensed real estate agent. Being in the business for at least five years isn't and shows a strong commitment to the real estate profession.
While all real estate agents have to start somewhere, working with a part-time real estate agent may not be in your best interests. Part-time real estate agents have other obligations that can get in the way of giving you full time attention
A small number of real estate agents have industry designations or a college degree. These are not a necessary requirement but is a sign that the real estate agent is committed to making themselves a bona fide real estate pro.
Does the Realtor have office hours? Can you call them at home? Do they quickly respond to emails? Buying real estate can be a nerve-racking experience. With lots of surprises along the way, you'll want a real estate agent that's easily open if you need to reach them.
Do they cut you off before you've finished a sentence? There's nothing worse than wasting time looking at houses you have no interest in since the agent has not listened carefully to your needs.
These are just some simple tips that any homebuyer should do before hiring a real estate agent.
