| posted by Jenn de la VegaOne of my pet peeves are fake personal emails--you know the ones that someone tries to make personal, but it is very obviously a mass email? I got one such email yesterday from a past colleague that has vehemently avoided contact with me for the past three months. Things like this remind me of what not to do when I'm am networking.
In fact, I went crazy on Linkedin.com today. In the past, I've been skeptical of the site and never saw results until today. I went through the contact lists of everyone I've worked with and sent invitations to all the media contacts that I've ever serviced. I simply said, "I've left XXXX, here is my new email !" If they didn't remember, they could just deny the invitation. And lo, I received two job offers an hour later.
