When people with your name get in the news.

The officer of a successful corporation took a moment to do a Google search for his name to see what came up. We’ll just call him John Jones.

John grew up in Florida where he built his company with a few partners. He traveled occasionally but never lived in any other state. That afternoon as he Googled “John Jones” (as his clients most certainly have in the past) he saw a headline that disturbed him.

“John Jones Recovering After Using Black Tar Heroine.” The story came from a Texas newspaper and was completely unrelated to this particular Mr. Jones.
The truth is, nobody owns their name. Most people share their same name with people all across the world. Some of which may not value the reputation of their name as you do much like the true story above.

Fortunately for our Mr. Jones, a reputation management problem caused by a character with the same name can be addressed with the same online reputation management tactics used for bad press that occurs by your own doing.
