If you regularly schedule conference calls with remote colleagues, distributed teams, and other partners, you might want to rethink your teamwork tactics. According to a recent RoperASW/Tandberg poll, less than half of respondents pay attention during conference calls. And what they do instead is quite interesting -- and occasionally alarming.

Perhaps a solution would be a video conferencing system. Therefore, all members have a clear view of their business associates faces, to combat short attention spans, sarcasm, and the like. It's much easier to read a person's feelings if one can see his facial expressions. Ideally, the system would accomodate eight or so parties. It would also be web based, so that all parties would be able to participate anywhere. I don't know whether there are any web based platforms on the market, and if so whether they are cost prohibitive. It would be interesting to find out.

With general update calls, you need to keep the group size at reasonable levels. If you're on a call integrate a handy 3D brochure.
Their are easy to use digital ebooks that can act as lifelike info kits. They are extremely cheap to produce and can easily dietribute over email.
