Martha Stewart announced today that she doesn't plan to appeal the decision in her case -- and that she would like to go to prison ASAP. In an email commentary this afternoon, Robert Passikoff, President of Brand Keys Inc., suggests that the move is 50% of what she needs to do to polish her tarnished brand.
"Consumers were waiting to see the 2C's: contrition and closure. What she's provided here is at least an approach to closure," Passikoff says. "In May 2002, the brand was one of the strongest in its category. Where it is today is a perfect example of the fragility of brands that are completely invested in a human being. (Accepting her sentence) is exactly what Martha Stewart the brand needs right now."
What do you think? Too little, too late? A wise move to get back to the garden come springtime?

Yup, wise move. Serve the time, get it over with, and put this all behind you. In a few years it will be a distant memory.

At first, the public wanted "blood." But now when she is a victim people feel compassion. I won't be suprised if her prison time strengthens her brand position in the future.

Martha didn't arrive at the pinnacle of her empire by not taking chances -- she is wise to think about Spring planting which is in effect a renewal of sorts -- prison becomes the past, roses the future. Bravo Martha!

Martha Stewart, Enron, Michael Jackson, most politicians, no admission of any wrong doing.
These arrogant, richer-than-thou dorks refuse to even consider that they could have done anything better than what they did. "I made no mistakes, there is nothing I would have done differently, I am the best of all possible mes." what lack of conscience, what hubris, what a crock of crap.

I think she will make the most of this prison stay just like she has made the most of things all of her life. She sees things that can be. Her glass is always half full....not half empty.
People envy people who get ahead...they critize and are happy when something like this happens.
Probably, those bashing the loudest would have done the same thing...dumping the stock. She wouldn'e jepordize all she had for a measely $250,000 that is "chump change" in her circles.
She got a raw deal because she of who she is. She will adjust and make the most of it.
