About Goodway Landscape :
Eclectic and sweetly rumpled, a cottage-style garden isn't the
buttoned-up type. Relaxed, romantic and informal, the cottage garden
overflows with multiple blooms, often set off by picket fences, arbors,
and trellises. Heirloom and vintage plants are quite at home here as
well. It's often the melange of plants that makes it so charming.
Practical herbs for kitchen and medicine chest stand side by side with
roses. It's truly a garden of the heart, of the hearth and of the home.

Gardeners need a way to compare their garden climates with the
climate where a plant is known to grow well. That's why climate zone
maps were created. Zone maps are tools that show where various
permanent landscape plants can adapt. If you want a shrub, perennial,
or tree to survive and grow year after year, the plant must tolerate
year-round conditions in your area, such as the lowest and highest
temperatures and the amount and distribution of rainfall.

The Azalea and Camellia fertilizer is best for plants that prefer
acidic growing conditions like azaleas, rhododendrons, blueberries,
gardenias and evergreens.

Monrovia Organics Starter Fertilizer is ideal for helping establish
new plantings. It’s a carefully crafted mix with natural source
phosphorous to help plants develop fully. We emphasize it to encourage
strong roots in young transplants. This gentle organic fertilizer is
formulated for all types of transplanting.

Lights may be added to accentuate your feature in the evening,
accommodating the ambience and mood. The AquaBasin™ is perfect for our
customers who would like to add a water feature to their landscape but
don't have room in their budget for an Aquascape™ Pond or Pondless™
feature.

About Goodway Landscape
Now that you have the pond you have always wanted it is time to think
about providing the ecosystem it deserves. This will not only keep your
water garden clean and promote a self-maintaining pond; it will provide
a healthy habitat for fish, turtles, butterflies, birds, frogs, newts
and salamanders, aquatic plants, and dragonflies (which help to control
the mosquito population!). Let's cover the basics to ensure vibrant
fish in an ecologically sound habitat: your pond!

Alkaline soils often occur in arid regions that receive less
than 25 inches of rain per year. The majority of the soils west of the
Missouri River are alkaline. Many plants popular for water-wise gardens
do well in alkaline soil. The olive, native to the Mediterranean basin,
is one example of a plant that thrives in alkaline soil; lavender and
pomegranate also perform well.

Light pruning for health (cont.)

* Remove any part of the plant that looks diseased before it can spread.

* Remove dead twigs and branches so these don’t become pest entry points.

* Resolve conflicting branches by removing the smaller one because friction creates wounds and these invite problems.

* Trim off whip-like sucker growth originating at the base of the
trunk so it doesn’t ‘suck’ growth energy from the rest of the tree.

* Do not prune later in the summer. Allow shoots to mature and prune again in winter.
