Facebook applications allow you and your friends to bug the hell ot
of each other with Mafia requests, farming, running a cafe and god
knows what else. Then we can clog up all our friend's news feeds with
what level we've reached, how many people we've iced or ask them to
help lost animals.
Now Bioware, a major player in the world of PC
and console games, has launched its first Facebook application "The
Gift of the Yeti". This is a little different in that for every time
the game is played, it will make a 1 cent charity donation
to Child's Play. Its target is to have 1 million plays, which equates
to a $10,000 donation. Child's Play will then use the money to support
Children's hospitals in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK,
and Egypt.
BioWare fans can also get a $10 voucher for redemption
against Dragon Age: Origins when purchased at Electronic Art's online
store.
In "The Gift of the Yeti". Santa Claus has been taken ill
and the Yeti agrees to do his rounds for him, but has to avoid the
police whilst still keeping the good reputation of Santa Claus intact.
