Watch Out

For some time now we've been trying to line up an interview for the magazine with Klaus Kleinfeld, the charismatic and dynamic new CEO of German electronics giant Siemens. He has been commended to us by mutual friends who reckon he could be the next Jack Welch.

Last week we were advised by Siemens' PR people that Kleinfeld was concentrating on "internal communications" for the time being. Unfortunately for Kleinfeld that included communicating to 1,350 workers last week that they'd be losing their jobs. To compound matters, Kleinfeld is now subject to allegations in this week's European newspapers that he ordered his $4,000 Rolex to be airbrushed out of an official photograph so as not to offend sacked workers.

We look forward to hearing marathon runner Kleinfeld's version of events when we finally catch up with him.
