This information represents two clarifications to the original blog entry:
With any luck, I'll follow up with another blog entry once I've spoken to TiVo headquarters next week. Got any questions for the folks at TiVo? Post them here and I'll be happy to pass them on... Meanwhile, follow the links for more on the public reaction to the news.

Honestly, speaking as a Tivo user, it doesn't sound too bad to me. I'm imagining something similiar to Pop-up Video and that doesn't seem as obtrusive (at least to me) as a full screen ad.

this just gives me more motivation to build my own DVR and not have to deal with this crap at all. imagine that, no monthly fees and no ads to deal with. i call it freedom... TiVo calls it theft (because it's not plugged into a phone line and they can't see what i'm doing).

As hard as it is to top the three previous comments by "pee cam" I'm going to give it a wack any way.... If Tivo is going to serve ads to people fast forwarding through commercials, it should be in place of a monthly feel. I agree with grog...time to look into getting a DVR.
