Sounds about normal.
Allow me to introduce myself. I own a small publishing company, am a writer, editor and occasional pain in whatever part of the anatomy will help me get the job done. I'm currently grateful we opted not to operate on credit, which was supposedly silly of us. Oh, well.
We also opted not to follow the traditional model for publishers. We use digital on-demand printing and ebooks, and we refuse to accept returns. Well, I will if there is absolutely no choice and the author needs it to set up a reading or a signing. We don't encourage it. Our goal is to have as small an impact on the environment as a possible. We're still working out how well we're succeeding.
