When Shopzilla increased the speed of their website by 5 seconds it resulted in, a 7%-12% increase in revenue, a 25% increase in page views , a 50% reduction in hardware, and a 120% increase traffic from Google.*
A fast website, especially if your customer base is global, is critical for maximizing the business opportunities the internet presents.
A slow website slows down your visitors ability to view more, do more, and buy more on your website. Simply speed up your website or intranet and you will increase their ability to interact with you in those ways.
However website speed is often difficult to communicate, especially the effect distance has on the visitor. Your website maybe fast for you, but what about your customers in Sydney or Cape Town or your business team in Hong Kong or London? Distance matters, the further data has to travel across the internet the longer it takes - fact.
Last month we released the Latency Simulator to help website owners and web performance specialists measure website speed across distance.
This month we turned our attention to improving our free Website Speed Test report.
The Website Speed Test report measures your web page load time (first view and repeat view load time), the strengths and weaknesses in your infrastructure, where you fit on the YSlow guide. We then compare these measurements after the Aptimize Website Accelerator has been added – checkout the difference.
Based on customer feedback our goal was to make the report useful for a business and marketing audience as well as for web specialists.
How slow is your website? Take the Website Speed Test.
