Establish expectations that motivate. In many of my coaching assignments and workshops clients comment that they don't know what is expected of them. One of the primary responsibilities of managers is communicating the organization's vision, mission and goals to employees. When this foundation is not clearly in place, productivity decreases and organizational tension is elevated. Clear and consistent communication results in employees who feel connected to a purpose larger than themselves. Once these basic communication steps are in place then coaching becomes much easier for managers and employees alike.

I strongly recommend that you start now to acquire information on the coaching resources that are available in your area. Don't wait until a situation develops that requires immediate attention. The better informed you are, the more effective will be your response to the coaching need. The amount of structural testing coverage, loop, path, data flow, functional coverage etc. is recommended to be investigated and documented. The complexity of the software and its criticality determine the degree to which testing needs to be extended as part of the validation effort in order to produce a reliable product.
