When looking for members of a team to build your business, you will want to find individuals with characteristics of successful people or those who have proven themselves to be successful in the past.
If you plan on hiring members of your team, you will find that individuals with proven records of success will cost more than those looking to prove themselves with less experience. My experience has shown that individuals looking to prove themselves can be more effective than the seasoned professionals. This of course depends on what role the team member will have in your organization and to whether or not you want a newbie.
In either case you want to find individuals with qualities of success. In the best selling book “Succeed on Your Own Terms,” by Herb Greenberg and Patrick Sweeney, they choose nineteen defining qualities that can lead you to your success. These qualities are also those you want to find in others:
| Perseverance | Goal-Oriented | Self-Awareness |
| Resilience | Willingness to Take a Risk | Thriving on Pressure |
| Optimism | Empathy | Competitiveness |
| Patience | Persuasiveness | Confidence |
| Passion | Passion | Trust |
| Having Fun | Being Open | Creativity |
| Courage |
