As of October 1, 2009 Aetna health insurance
will be increasing the Aetna HMO rates in Pennsylvania. This is due to
several factors, but the main factor being increased health care costs
and prescription costs. Only Aetna HMO plans will be affected by this
rate action all PPO and H.S.A. plan premiums will remain the same.
10.3% is the average overall increase amongst all the Aetna health
insurance HMO plans. There are nine Aetna health insurance plans in
total being affected by this rate increase in October. Each plan will
be affected differently by this rate increase in Pennsylvania.
Members have three options to choose from in Pennsylvania. All members
can stay with the plan that already exists. If a current member chooses
to upgrade a plan an underwriting review will have to be assessed
before the client can obtain such a plan. For a downgrade no
