The question was raised here in Ireland not too long ago about whether parents would consider implementing a GPS tracking device for their children.  This concern followed the abduction of British born Madeline McCann while on holidays in Portugal.  Many thought that implementing a GPS tracking system for their children was taking technology too far but others, like myself, see the technology as almost a requirement in today's circumstances.  Abduction in Ireland is of particular issue as the borders are not patrolled well, the policing infrastructure is poor and communications across different agencies is practically nil.  So if your child does go missing, what do you do? Who do you call?  I would like to discuss the benefits and drawbacks to utilising modern technology to keep our kids safe and parents' minds at ease.
