They are a solid and effective alternative to full-time staffers if you are in a position where you cannot afford to hire them for the long haul. Cambridge Who’s Who, the leading organization for professional development, online exposure and branding, recently selected one of its members, Jenna MacKay, to describe in an article how a company can benefit from hiring freelance contributors. Ms. MacKay, who is a writer and publishing consultant, had many insightful points, which you can read about in her Cambridge Who’s Who Contributing Author Article.

Cambridge Who’s Who would
like to draw your attention to the New Image Emergency Shelter, a set of
programs focused on helping low income homeless individuals and families.
Cambridge lifetime member Brenda Wilson, along with her twin sister Lynda
Moran, established New Image in 1989 to reduce and prevent homelessness throughout
Los Angeles County by providing housing, thorough case management, job
placement, and outreach and referral services. The following year, New Image
was incorporated.
December 2008 was a milestone for the organization,
which, by that time had provided case management and supportive services to
more than 1.9 million (duplicated) homeless and low-income individuals and
families with children, of which over 701,336 of these clients were
unduplicated (they were seen only once). In its 20 year existence, New Image
has managed more than 40 federal, county, city and local programs, channeling $39,444,000.00
in public funds to the benevolent cause. Currently, 413 programs comprise the
shelter’s range of operations, presided over by 184 employees.
New Image houses a Year-Round Shelter Program that provides
evening shelter for 500+ homeless nightly and services such as a shower room,
laundry room, childcare, message and mail services, clothing, a medical prevention
health clinic and a computer learning center. New Image Transitional Housing
Programs provide job, education and practical life skills assistance and helps homeless
families with children. The program lasts for 6 to 9 months and prepares
participants in the program for placement in permanent housing or ownership.
Additionally there is Project Fresh Start, a transitional program for homeless
single women that prepares them for placement in permanent housing.
The Year-Round shelter has had to reduce its number of
beds due to a funds shortage. To find out how you can help New Image maintain
this program you can call (562) 983-7289 to speak directly with Cambridge
member Brenda Wilson at the corporate office, make a financial donation on The New Image Emergency Shelter Website or send a check payable to “New

in business administration from Wayne State University.
In 2008, Cambridge Who’s Who Lifetime member Cynthia B. Ainsworthe issued the independently published romance novel, “Front Row Center” to positive reviews from the Midwest Book Review and numerous individuals. At the 12th Annual IPPY Awards in Los Angeles in May, 2008, the author earned a bonze medal in the romance category for her effort. This is an exceptional accomplishment, considering Ms. Ainsworthe’s full-time occupation is nursing. The IPPY Awards recognizes excellence in independent publishing and sorted through 3,175 entries to find last year's winners.
“Front Row Center” is about a married woman, Taylor Allen, who becomes attracted to a hugely popular music idol named Larry Davis. As she sits dead center at one of Larry's performances, their eyes meet and an adventure in romance ensues. The book continues to gain traction. Most recently, Ms. Ainsworthe was featured on the March 27, 2009 Episode of The
Jerry Butler Show talking about “Front Row Center.” People interested in
purchasing a text PDF or audio book and listening to an excerpt can visit Cynthia B. Ainsworthe’s Website, where they may also request an autographed version of the CD-ROM.

Cambridge Who’s Who lifetime member, Joanne Calcagno has
earned positive reviews for “Raaof,” the book she authored and published
through BookSurge Publishing. Appropriate for readers
aged 6 to 9 years old, “Raaof” talks about the struggles of a young Yemen boy adjusting
to his new life as an immigrant in Flushing, NY. The other students at the
public school consider him an outsider and he must overcome challenging
cultural differences. But when Mrs. Wright, his teacher, recognizes his artistic
talents, she encourages him to reach out to other children, earn their respect
and develop new friendships.
“Raaof teaches children not to be judgmental and
compartmentalize people in the same category as those who committed atrocities
against the US,” says a social worker who recently discovered the quality read.
She also asserts that the book is a good read for fourth and fifth graders, as
it encourages understanding and openness towards other cultures.
Joanne Calcagno has more than 23 years as an elementary
schoolteacher. Writing “Raaof” enabled Joanne to explore modern day prejudice and
the increasingly multicultural world of young students. Cambridge Who’s Who is
dedicated to equipping its members with opportunities for business growth,
career development and online visibility. To view news and updates about other spotlighted
