Fast Company has been recognizing and listing the Most Creative People in Business and various other categories. Spending my career with social entrepreneurs, I’d like to describe these magical people who are doing so much for our world:
- Visionary: They imagine remarkable solutions to awful problems.
- Utterly relentless…unstoppable.
- Impatient. Often frustrated. (They can’t wait to get where they are going, because they can see what’s possible as clear as day.)
- Full of purpose.
- Love leading a team.
- Evangelists!
If you know any, help them, or by gosh, move out of the way!

Great Points

I have been working, for the past several years, with quite a few organisations involved in the social sector in India.
Generally speaking - and from my personal experience here in India - I would accept 4 out of the 6 traits that Alice listed as social entrepreneurs' characterisicts: the ones I omit are (1)Impatient and (2)Evangelists.
The main reason for my ommitting these two items is based on a major Human factor viz. Resistance to Change.
By their very nature social entrepreneurs are Visionaries and therefore are Agents of Change. And if they are to achieve their goals, they need to be Patient (impatience would only lead to frustration).
I believe that effective social entrepreneurs are aware of the need for being patient and do not allow themselves to become impatient.
Similarly, I believe that Resistance to Change applies to the other trait I have disagreed with Alice viz. Evangelists. Effective SEs accept the fact that changing beliefs, thought-processes, age-old traditions is time-consuming and counter-productive.
