I recently woke during a holiday retreat in a cold and rainy Sausalito, knowing I had just broken out of a vivid dream. I tried to recall the major features and themes, and found that I was thinking myself into a wall. Thinking I might get better results with a different approach, I closed my eyes and took a breath, and the images returned. Actually, I am not very visual, so by images I really mean that sense of "I know what it was" that often gets befuddled when I try to write it out or know it with my eyes open.
I realized that since our dreams and visions, and likewise our relationships to people and ideas, are non-rational, non-reasonable, and non-linear, it would make sense that I would get better results by looking in the right places with the right tools. To discover and work with our dreams, visions, and hopes, we can simply close our eyes and feel. This is not limited to our moon-lit excursions. What do you hope for in your life? What is your career, or this project about? Whether you are feeling motivated or less-so, why?
While feeling our dreams does take practice, the clarity you can experience and the profoundness of your connections to what you hold to be most true and important right now, can be immediately felt and known. Later when you take on the task of expressing and communicating your ideas, your well-practiced tools and technology will be there to assist you.
