Yanni will be performing live at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, Saturday May 16th. Tickets for the concert are available at www.actickets.com , the premier provider of concert and show tickets for Atlantic City entertainment.
Yanni Chryssomallis is a self-taught pianist, keyboardist and composer. At the age of eighteen, Yanni left his homeland of Greece to attend the University of Minnesota in the United States. He graduated with a degree in psychology, but quickly changed his tune and devoted his life to music. At the time, Yanni had no professional education in the music industry and didn’t even know how to read a note.
Yanni started his musical career in the Rock & Roll world but soon realized that his true passion and unique talent was performing as an instrumental soloist. In 1992, “Dare To Dream” was Yanni’s first album to be released and earned him his first Grammy Nomination as an artist. This album featured an “Aria” style song that was based on ‘The Flower Duet,’ and is most commonly heard on present day British Airways commercials. His music has been widely used in numerous television events such as The Super Bowl, U.S. Open, The Olympics and ABC News.
Yanni’s breakthrough entertainment success came with the release of his hit album and music video titled “Yanni Live at the Acropolis.” This video was produced in 1993 at the 2,000-year-old Herod Atticus Theater in Athens, Greece. This was his first live album, which was immediately picked up by the PBS Network, and became one of their most popular programs in history. This video was aired in 65 countries, viewed by a half billion people and was the second best selling video of all time. The album sold more than 7 million copies worldwide.
In 1997, Yanni was one of the few U.S. artists to be granted permission to perform and record, live, in the Taj Mahal in India. In 2000, he released his first album in seven years titled “If I Could Tell You.” Five years later, Yanni kicked off his “Yanni Live!” tour at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada. Directly following was the release of his “Yanni Live! The Concert Event” video.
Fellow companion and renown conductor, Armen Anassion, worked with Yanni on his major projects and described the musician to be “very honest with his feelings and his music really comes from the heart.”
