10 De-clone (And Advantagize) Yourself Tips for MBA Clones

Are you an MBA Clone? Was your business education
more like "business programming"? If your answer is yes, you are
probably not fully aware of the fact that you have been "produced",
together with many other executives, to think and act in a similar
predictable manner, as many MBA programs around the world gravitate
towards standard no-diversity sets of default concepts and tools. As a
result, many executives have been turning into MBA Clones, thus
undermining the competitiveness of the companies they lead.

Leadership

Are You An MBA Clone? Diagnose Yourself

In our hyper-competitive markets, MBA clones pose an
imminent and tangible threat to the competitiveness of the companies
they work for. Many executives today attend the same MBA programs,
study the same books, read the same newspapers and magazines, and go to
the same conferences and workshops. Standardization in MBA programs
results in a similarity in the professional approach and managerial
thinking of their graduates. It also shapes the vocabulary and agenda
of all the business media and training activities. Thus many executives

Leadership

Contextual Segmentation - A New Way to Understand Your Market

If you're trying to segment your market in the
traditional way, what you may be looking for would be groups of
consumers sorted out in such a way that a certain likeness exists
within each group, and a difference exists between them. The variable
determining the meaningful likeness or difference between those groups
would be the segmentation variable. A trivial segmentation variable,
just for the sake of demonstration, would be hair color.

Leadership

The Surprising Secret of Successful Differentiation

A successful differentiation is not imitated by your competitors,
even though it brings you unmistakable success with consumers. It seems
impossible? Not quite so. I am about to reveal to you the unexpectedly
simple and wonderful secret of successful differentiation: you must
think beyond the core benefits of your product category. Think:
Off-Core Differentiation.

Leadership

'L' for Leadership

My favorite warm up for a leadership session is to ask participants to think of all the words they can that begin with the letter, ‘L’ that have anything to do with leadership. The usual response is a collective groan, suggesting this is a ‘dumb’ idea. However, within 10 minutes participants are surprised to discover how these words provide the perfect landscape to launch a leadership discussion. Here are a few special ‘L’ words. Listen, laughter, language, liberate, legacy, lesson, liaison, labor, limit, lonely and luck.

Leadership

The 'When' and 'What' of Leadership

‘When’ is different from ‘What’.

‘What’ suggests a thing, an item, an object, something that may easily be defined, observed, measured. ‘When’ suggests a time, an experience, a feeling. Whereas ‘what’ may be short-lived, ‘when’ is ongoing.
