There's no such thing as a quick leadership fix

| posted by steven sonsino

People are shocked at the beginning of my leadership seminars when one of the first things I say to them is not to believe a word I say.

‘You’ve got to make your own mind up,’ I suggest.

Why would I say that? Well, it’s because we can only speak from our own experience.

None of the concepts or insights I might share with you – either here in this blog or in a leadership seminar – is inherently true or false, right or wrong. They simply reflect my own opinions, the research I’ve conducted, the scholarly studies I’ve reviewed and the results I’ve seen in the lives of hundreds if not thousands of managers

Of course, many of the executives who go to workshops and seminars go explicitly for ‘The Answer’. They're hoping for a quick fix to the most challenging management problems: how to inspire people to higher levels of performance, productivity and profitability.

Unfortunately no one has the single undisputed answer to this challenge.

I do believe, though, that if you use the simple and practical leadership principles I'll be outlining in this blog you can become an even more inspirational leader than you already are.

But don’t just read this blog. Try the principles out for yourself. Practise. Then, whatever works you just keep on doing. Whatever doesn’t work you’re welcome to throw away.
