Not sure where to begin...
| posted by scott chappell...since this is a new group. So I'll start with the low hanging fruit. The Mac Air. I was enthusiastic about the launch of this machine. I'm not a designer, but I work in design and appreciate and use Apple products. I did not need a pro machine. But wanted a machine that would work easily with my airport and be portable. I'm typing this on a VAIO that is 3 lbs and is of no use for design but works quite well for my commute from New York to Montclair NJ where I live. Last night my wife's iMac (she is a handbag designer which is low tech and ust needs email and internet) started acting weird so I thought we had an excuse to buy the new Air. She could commute with it. It would work well with our airport wireless connection. Print wirelessly to our printer. Perfect. But then her computer started working well again so the excuse to drop $1800 was lost.
So to point. What is the value of the Air? Who is it for? I think it will do ok, but is a hobbyist accessory and nothing more.
