I agree, as long as it does not border on what I call ‘reverse’ sexual harassment at work – in the form of inappropriate dress for the work environment. Boy or girl.
Dress appropriately and you will be treated appropriately by your superiors, by your colleagues and even by your customers.
I think the point is to be Authentic; to be honestly who you are allows your strengths to shine. Women inherently bring wonderful feminine strengths to the table in the form of relationship building, creativity and concern for others rooted in spiritual power. Women and men alike have feminine and masculine characteristics and each of these have their weakness such as women tend to give their power away and men tend to hoard it, neither is healthy.
I feel the world at large and the microcosm of the corporation needs more feminine power at work at this juncture. We are certainly out of balance and need concern for creations, human and natural, to bring us back to more sustainable practices including profit making but not at the expense of all other objectives.
That is a rather loaded or, at least, provocative, statement. Whether one agrees with it or not depends on how they interpret the use of the term femininity.
Definitely it can be doubted. In my office, women paly better than men. They are sensitive, they are aggresive, and they are eager to develop themselves.
Most good ideas are proposed by female staffs.
At the same time they have the higher commitment to the organization if you really pay your respect to them.
Diversity is important. Today’s work place has no place for racism and sexism. Moreover, every employee should bring to work a big piece of “them”. Whatever that is, as long as it does not infringe on other people and that is truly where the thin line is. Rules have to be fair and equal. Everybody, no matter what race or gender needs to act in a businesslike manner and let their intricacies accent them and not the other way around.
We don't suggest how men should behave. Women have the same discretionary powers as men, when their singular choices and outcomes are based on self-determinism.
Women by nature are feminine, hence, female. Men by nature are masculine, hence, male. Be Authentic to those natures, but avoid the use of "Timeless Secrets to Get Everyting You Want In Life,Love, and Work." There really are NO big "secrets" to being your true self, while this title in the original comment reeks more of manipulation and deceit than authenticity.
I think it is important to be yourself in any environment; be authentic. Saying that... I think it important to note that the "work stage" requires every player to conform so that being themselves does not get in the way of being productive, profitable, creative and making a profit.
A woman shouldn’t feel the need to pretend like she’s anything other than a woman, at work or anywhere else. No apologies. No hiding. No dressing like a man. Women should dress and act like women, but they do have to fit in to their profession (read: don’t dress like floozies or like slobs when in a corporate environment). When remaining true to yourself, you can achieve the best results in business because there’s no acting involved, and being genuine beats being faux masculine any day. I agree with Jerry. Being one's self will bring what is needed. Women should be women but have enough self respect to be authentic and wise.
