1. Who can post comments on Fast Company?

Any approved member of our site can comment. To become a member, simply sign up and then post a comment. Comments from new users are moderated, but once your comment is approved you are a member and can post freely without future moderation. The comment system is moderated so that we can spend time with engaging discussions rather than policing spam.

2. How do I become an approved commenter?

Start by leaving a worthwhile comment. Your comment will be received but won't appear until (and if) it is approved -- this can take up to 24 hours. We approve comments that are interesting, thoughtful, or further the conversation -- so give us something that truly contributes to the site.

3. Can I comment anonymously?

In order to leave a comment, you must give us a valid email address, along with a first and last name. We have no way of verifying this identity, but that does not mean you are entirely anonymous either.

4. Can I be banned from commenting?

Yes. Commenters who are excessively self-promotional, obnoxious, over-use obscenities, or abuse others will be banned from the site. Users will be banned without being notified. Users can appeal a ban by emailing info@fastcompany.com.

5. Can I edit or delete one of my comments?

You can edit your comments for up to 15 minutes after it is posted; just click on the pencil icon below the comment. We only delete comments if the material is offensive or abusive. Users can alert moderators to such comments by clicking on the exclamation point icon below the comment in question. If you want to delete a comment for another reason, you should send an email to info@fastcompany.com and include a link to and a description of the comment.

6. Can I blog on Fast Company?

Currently, only Staff members, Guest bloggers, and Expert bloggers can blog at FastCompany.com

7. But I already have a blog...

If you are already a member of the site, you may have had a member blog. Members no longer get blog pages, unless they are Staff or Experts. The existing member blog pages are still live, but can no longer be updated or receive new posts. If members believe they are contributing something meaningful to the site, they can seek to become Expert bloggers.

8. How do I become an Expert blogger?

Whether you are a member with an existing blog page or a new member who has just joined the site, you can send an email to info@fastcompany.com. Your pitch should include a short bio on you, links to things you have written, and some thoughts on what topics you would like to write about.

9. What does an Expert blogger do?

Expert bloggers are unpaid contributors that write blog posts for FastCompany.com on a regular basis. They write on a specific topic that they have expertise in, providing ideas and insight from a unique angle. Such Expert blog posts are featured on our topic pages, newsletters, and even our homepage. They are aggregated at http://www.fastcompany.com/fc-expert-blogs.

10. Can I be banned from blogging?

Yes. Just like commenting, a member of the site can be banned because of the blog posts they are creating. The same sort of questionable material will get you banned: spam-filled posts, libelous posts, excessive use of obscenity, or other inappropriate content. Users will be banned without being notified. Users can appeal a ban by emailing info@fastcompany.com.

11. Can I edit or delete one of my blog posts?

You can edit or delete your blog post by going to the URL of the blog post in question and clicking on the green Edit tab above the headline.

12. I used to log on and comment on your site through Facebook Connect...

We no longer support Facebook Connect as a way to log on to the site. Our new process to join the site is very quick and you will be posting your thoughts in no time.

13. What happens to the comments I made on FastCompany.com using Facebook Connect?

An account created through Facebook Connect, including comments and blog posts, still exist. That said, user should create a new account. They can then email info@fastcompany.com with the URL of their old Facebook Connect account and their new account, and we will move the old content to the new profile.

14. Can I be removed from FastCompany.com?

Yes. If you no longer wish to have a profile page at FastCompany.com you may send an email to info@fastcompany.com with a request for your account to be deleted and the URL. After your profile is deleted, your comments and blog posts remain on the site.
