A thread on Apple's support forums has users loudly complaining that the animation effects in the new OS are making them sick--like physically, I'm-going-to-puke sick.

iOS 7, which is the biggest ever revamp of Apple's operating system used on iPhones, iPads, and the iPod Touch, features many zoom animations while multitasking and opening and closing apps.

iOS 7 also has a slight parallax effect, which creates the illusion of 3-D layers stacked on top of each other.

While you can disable the parallax effects, there is no way to turn off the animations, something that is making users hopping mad.

IOS 7 Is Reportedly Making People Sick

Like, physically sick.

Maybe Apple should bundle some air sickness bags with every iOS device sold. A thread on Apple's support forums has users loudly complaining that the animation effects in the new OS are making them sick—like physically, I'm-going-to-puke sick.

Here are a few choice samples:

The design for iOS 7, which is the biggest ever revamp of Apple's operating system used on iPhones, iPads, and the iPod Touch, features many zoom animations while multitasking and opening and closing apps, in addition to a slight parallax effect, which creates the illusion of 3-D layers stacked on top of each other. To be honest, we're not sure if all these people are spending their time rapidly switching between apps instead of actually using their devices. We're happy to report that at Fast Company, at least, the grand total of people calling in sick due to iOS 7 has been zero so far.

I have to agree w/ these users. That was my first reaction to iOS7 - my stomach physically churned and I had instant vertigo-like symptoms. Turning off parallax does help for sure, but the biggest culprits still are the apps zooming in and out, the odd jerkiness when you're scrolling through apps in the multi-task mode, and the fluorescent color scheme.

After using it for a week, I am finding that it's actually tolerable again. (not awesome, btw, just tolerable). My eyes no longer bug out from from the weird colors, and the nausea is now only minimal when I use my phone. There really does need to be a way to control these new "features" though, as using your phone shouldn't physically make you sick just to use it normally.

Not sick here, just frustrated. I thought new interfaces were supposed to make things simpler. Not so with IOS 7.XXXXXXXXXXX. Of all the things, the CALENDAR SUCKS almost as bad as the OBAMA administration.

Wow... lots of sensitive, sympathetic people here.  Apple is right, the people are wrong.  LOL

I use technology, but am not a fan.  My iPhone was stable and clean with a good interface.  Features could certainly been added that could have let me keep the look that I (and most people) would have preferred to keep and would choose again.  Thanks for reducing readability and making it rougher for the 45+ crowd to read.

The condition is called visual vestibular vertigo.  Those of us who have it can't read in moving vehicles, get carsick, can't go to IMAX unless we sit in the way way back center and close our eyes on transitions.  Lots of people have this.  Do a search for the condition and you'll learn ways to adjust.  I even get sick with the i-Pad 1, and my new Windows 8 touch laptop?  Yikes!  I've learned how to drop my gaze & unfocus my eyes slightly when things move.  In Windows 8, you can disable the sliders, which is very helpful.

you can turn it off by going to settings- general- accessibility- slide reduce motion to  off

I would say that the issue is really people jumping from one app or one folder to another in quick succession.  when there is too much going on it can, in some people, confuse the brain into believing they are in motion while the inner ear tells them they are not moving.  It is the same thing that causes travel sickness!
The jumping in and out of apps and folders can cause this especially if you are absorbed with staring at the screen.  Right now people are 'playing' with the OS and their focus is all on the screen.

As the fascination with the Operating system settles down these reports will slow to almost nothing because people will not be jumping from app to app to app to folder to app continually and staring at it like a cat chasing the dot from a laser pointer.

It's not really iOS 7 making these people ill,  it is what they are doing that is making them feel sick.

I suffer from travel sickness, very badly, and I haven't had a single issue with it.

Oh and you can put folders on the bottom line of the screen if you feel the need to organize the apps better.

Maybe these folks should spend more time outside and a little less on their phones?

The person who said they lost a day to vertigo cause dby their ios7 is a complete moron and should be killed so as to improve the gene pool.

Get a BlackBerry Z10 and you'll forget the iCult ever existed.  Seriously.
