Microsoft May Ditch "Metro" Title For Its Windows OS

"Metro" may be no more. Microsoft used the name at first to describe versions of its mobile Windows operating systems, and more recently the upcoming Windows 8 series, with its distinctive colored tiles. Instead, plans are being made to swap out the monicker for the clunkier tag: "Windows 8-style UI." Ars Technica heard that a trademark dispute, or the threat of one, from German firm Metro AG prompted the decision.
