The Scottish Isle of Skye is a beautiful location to take your vacation away from the bustle and stress of the everyday. The amazing countryside is a centre of Gaelic culture, and Gael can be heard there by many locals even today. Flora and fauna are plentiful on the isle and the landscape in the area is world renowned for its rare charm. If you are trying to figure out where to go on your next vacation, you should consider the Scottish Isle of Skye.

The Isle of Skye boasts a long history and heritage that is impressively preserved even in these times. Ancient settlements have been discovered by archaeologists that have been dated back to the Bronze Age and even before that. Written sources from the late 7th century have been found that have the name of the island, and it was under the control of the Norse during the 9th to 13th centuries. After that, Clan MacLeod and Clan MacDonald had sway on the island, and their ancient castle keeps can still be toured. The clan system ended in the late 1700's and landed estates became established.

An excellent reason to make Skye your next holiday spot is that there is something that everyone can enjoy. If you are a nature lover, you will be in for a special delight. The Isle of Skye's landscape is aesthetically amazing. The peaks found on the island make up some of the most rugged terrain that you can hike anywhere in Scotland. These trips are well worth the work, though, since they guide you to breath taking scenes of the countryside and coast. If you do not enjoy strenuous treks, there are also beautiful walkways to follow along the ocean and in valleys through the many lochs of Skye.

Skye is the perfect location to be exposed to Gaelic culture. Dunvegan Castle, Caisteal Maol, and additional ruined castles are open for tours. Music has always been important to the island and festivals are held throughout the year, one of the most attended of which is the Isle of Skye Music Festival. Another well supported event is the Isle of Skye Highland Games; which is traditionally held on the ninth of August. Feis an Eilein, a celebration of Gaelic culture, is held during two weeks on the Sleat Peninsula during mid-July. Visitors come to the island from all over the world to enjoy these special yearly events.

There are lots of accommodations for visitors, with Isle Of Skye Hotels becoming one of the most popular choices. To arrive to the isle, you may ride the train to a ferry which gets you across the water to the island in roughly 20 minutes. You can also choose to go by bus or car, but this will take substantially more time. On the island, cars and bikes can be rented.

The Isle of Skye is known as one of the most beautiful trip spots in the entire UK. The island has immense natural beauty and a fascinating culture that will certainly be worth your journey there.
