While all parents rightfully think their child is exceptional, some children truly are gifted intellectually and benefit from a differentiated type of educational curriculum and teaching style. If you’re looking at homes or real estate for sale in Scottsdale and you’ve been told your child is gifted, you should consider looking into the Scottsdale Unified School District’s Comprehensive Self-Contained Gifted (CSCG) program. The CSCG program is designed for elementary and middle school students who have the extraordinary academic needs, abilities and intellectual potential found in the top three percent of the population.
While gifted services are offered at other schools on a part-time basis, the self-contained program is a full-time program geared toward highly gifted students whose needs are not being met through the general education curriculum. CSCG has expanded over the last few years and is now offered on several SUSD campuses. Tours are periodically scheduled for parents so you can see up-close-and-personal the adventures in learning that take place in one of these classrooms.
The Scottsdale Unified School district has 31 schools and encompasses homes in most of the city of Scottsdale, in most of the town of Paradise Valley as well as in parts of Phoenix and Tempe. The district consists of five high schools, six middle schools, three K-8 schools, 16 elementary schools and one alternative school. SUSD is currently considered one of Arizona’s “Most Excelling” school districts, with 22 schools earning the highest rating from the Arizona Department of Education.
