Streaming live with Osprey 700e HD

As the Osprey 700e HD won several awards since it was launched, including the Streaming Media's 2008 Readers Choice Award, TV Technology magazine's 2007 STAR Award and was featured in HD Video Pro magazine's February 2008 issue, there is no doubt that the industry is taking an interest in the potential for HD streaming.

We have successfully used the Osprey video capture card from
ViewCast to stream HD video at bitrates as low as 700kbs. This card comes with features that distinguish it from many cards used for ingesting video into video editing systems or other applications such as accepting several source signals via SDI input.

The installation is very easy and we managed to stream in true 420p, 720p, 1080i as well as 1080p all at 30 to 60 frames per second with the TikiLIVE broadcaster. It only requires a regular broadband connection to broadcast. A viewer can watch the broadcast via a flash based player.

We did it with this simple software which requires the most affordable supporting hardware.

The only hardware require to broadcast with this HD broadcaster is a capture card, Dual Core (Quad Core PC required for full 1080HD), a HD video source and a broadband internet connection of 500kbs to 1 Mbs.
