Art aficionados who own a Phoenix condo, home or other residential or commercial real estate near downtown, are in luck: the Phoenix Art Museum boasts a vast collection including more than 18,000 works spanning such artistic areas as American, Asian, European, Latin American, Western American and contemporary art. Located almost in the heart of Phoenix?s center-city, the Museum originally opened in 1959 and currently encompasses nearly 300,000 square feet of gallery and classroom space.

Along with its magnificent permanent collections, the Phoenix Art Museum regularly presents special exhibitions of painting, sculpture, fashion, photography and works on paper, including well-known national and international traveling exhibitions. Docent-led tours are offered, as is a full calendar of events and educational programs such as lectures, festivals, Movies at the Museum, Music at the Museum, monthly PhxArtKids Days, school tours and outreach programs. In 2006, the Museum and the Center for Creative Photography, located at the University of Arizona in Tucson, entered a highly innovative collaboration to bring some of the world?s finest photography to be displayed at the Phoenix Art Museum.

Additional on-site amenities include PhxArtKids, which is a hands-on, interactive gallery that provides new ways of understanding works of art in the Museum?s collection and offers fun activities for families and children. Meanwhile, the acre-plus Dorrance Sculpture Garden is a spectacular slice of urban oasis-like real estate complete with 140 mature trees, immaculately manicured lawns and ten stunning sculptures. When hungriness hits, the casual-fare Arcadia Farms restaurant features scrumptious sandwiches and delicious light meals made from healthy sustainable foods and local organic produce.
