Beginning June first of this year a new medicare supplement plan will hit the market.  The new supplemental plan N is designed to help Medicare recipients cover the excess charges not covered by basic Medicare with lower premiums than traditional medicare supplement plans.

The new plan N will cost about 15-30% less than a plan F, but will have a copay for doctor and hospital visits.  This copay is designed to keep premiums down by having the client and insurance company share some of the initial costs of medical care.

Since many people over 65 are staying with their employer but
choosing to opt for Medicare part A and B, they are comfortable with the
copay arrangement like group health insurance.  The combination of basic Medicare and a plan N supplement is almost always a significant improvement over the current group health plans.

The maximim copay for a doctors office visit is $20 and the maximum copay for hospital or emergency room visit is $50.  For most healthy medicare clients, the savings on monthly premiums will far outweigh the small copays for medicare care.

Even seniors who go to the doctor monthly often come out ahead since the savings is usually more thant $20 per month.  Compared with Advantage plans, our clients love the fact that there are no restrictions on which doctor of hospital they can use.

With a medicar Advantage plan, the client must use a provider in the Advantage network.  However, with a supplement plan, incuding plan N, the client can see any doctor or hosptital that accepts basic Medicare benefits.  That is over 99% of the providers nationwide.
