I graduated from Dominican College in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in
Marketing Management. Located in Blauvelt, New York, Dominican College
is a small, private, liberal arts school chartered by the Board of
Regents of the University of the State of New York. The college was
originally founded almost six decades ago by the Dominican Sisters of
Blauvelt to be a liberal arts Catholic college that specialized in
preparing religious women for careers in teaching. Rapidly expanding,
the school let in lay students two years later and, shortly thereafter,
petitioned the Regents to authorize a four-year program in Education.

Soon, Dominican College also had English and History departments. By
1970, the college was also running programs in special education,
secondary education, psychology, French, Spanish, and human services,
which trained students for social work. The Business Administration
program was officially added to Dominican College’s curricula in 1971.
Dominican College’s strong Business program is now accredited by both
the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the
International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education. Throughout the
next two decades, Dominican College’s offerings continued to expand
and, in the 1990s, the school began offering graduate-level coursework
and awarding graduate-level degrees.

Dominican College is dedicated to fostering close relationships between
faculty and students, and thus maintains a small student-to-faculty
ratio. With small classes, students at Dominican College develop
lifelong relationships and strong bonds as they study together on the
college’s gorgeous campus. Located less than 20 miles outside of New
York City, the college offers a unique and relaxing environment while
also allowing its students access to one of the largest cities in the
world. Dominican College offers a one-of-a-kind education that is rooted
in community, service, and leadership.
