Whether it was a business goal or a personal one. Have you ever gone round and round only to miss the brass ring time after time? As a publisher, I have seen so many authors with a dream grab for the brass ring and miss it. And when they did, it was normally because of one thing - they reached for it alone.
According to WorldOMeters and based on statistics published by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization)the number of new books published worldwide this year is already over 350,000. Not great odds if you want to see yours grace the hallowed best seller lists you better have a strategy and you might just want to saddle up your team.
More and more often we're seeing how teamwork pays off. A great example of this is two authors who are teaming up to go for it. Kevin Daum, author ofROAR!How to succeed in the sales and marketing jungleand Amilya Antonetti, author of The Recipe: A fable for leaders and teams.
You would think that two authors, both in New York City and both with new business fables, would be steering clear of each other or actively competing to get attention for their books on the overcrowded book store shelf.
Instead both have taken the lessons in their books to heart and are teaming up in many cases to help each other reach their goals by sharing contacts, strategies and insights as they both reach toward their personal brass rings - for Daum that elusive NY Times Best Seller or as he says "the Jewish Superbowl Ring". (He even tattooed it on his chest so he is reminded every morning)and for Antonetti it is the ability to inspire others to embrace teamwork and take a proactive role as a leader in business and in life.
As publisher of The Recipe (yes, this is a disclaimer, my company, CorePurpose Publishing is releasing The Recipe in May and I personally purchased my copy of Roar!), I have had an inside look at how these two authors are demonstrating in the real world what they created in their fictional ones. And best of all, it's working. Last week, ROAR! made a rapid climb up the AMAZON listings, while Antonetti cheered Daum on. In May, as Antonetti's book formally launches with two events in New York City, one a private preview for the media honoring leadersLynn Tilton of Patriarch Partners, Ken Colburn of Data Doctors, and Monica Crowley of Fox News for leadership in their respective areas on May 10th and followed on May 11th by an Entrepreneurial Leadership event at Barnes and Noble's Lincoln Triangle location in mid-town Manhattan featuring a star-studded panel of thought leaders including:leadership expert Gloria Feldt, the well known Toilet Paper Entrepreneur Mike Michalowicz, and Daum.
Will they each obtain their elusive brass ring, or in Daum's case a "Jewish Superbowl Ring"? Only time will tell - but they have a much better shot at it by working togther. Afterall, teamwork is always a winning strategy when going for the brass ring.
Thanks for stopping by...stay tuned.
