After the great success of Heritage Auctions' Fort Worth coin sale, the
auction house began planning its next event. It will be held at the end
of April and continue through the beginning of May in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, and will be the official auction of the Central States
Numismastic Society convention.
Heritage Auctions' collection includes the 1975 Mint set, which
holds a bicentennial quarter with a die adjustment strike, a rare test
strike that only exist on the first coins of a coinage set. Coins with
die adjustments strikes are typically destroyed before coins are shipped
out, but Heritage Auctions has collected a quarter that was packaged
into a Philadelphia Mint set by accident. Its original owner recognized
the coin's uniqueness, and will now be sold through Heritage Auctions as
a bicentennial coin with a one-of-a-kind story.
