"There's nine million people and they are all trying to go the same place I am."
That was the comment one of our clients gave during an interview with the Discovery channel produceer today. She was at a resort property with her family and everyone seemed to bottleneck at the same places at the same time - it might have been a ride, it might be food. Either way she was frustrated and not happy with her user experience. The resort couldn't move people to differnet palces or warn them about bottlenecks.
Radio frequency identification (RFID) is changing the customer experience not only in the hospitality world, but theme parks and resorts across the world.
RFID gives things and people a voice. When an RFID tag goes by a reader - whether that's attached to an item like a box, laptop, or weapon or if its on a person's wristband or season pass it sepaks for itself.
The implications for places like Disney or Six Flags or Ski Resorts and golf courses everywhere will completely change the interaction between the participants and the resort. The ability to have a customizable expereince will be unprecednedted.
