"How many politicians does it take to pay off the national debt? 554." "553 to replace all but one in DC, and 1 with the balls to design a process to solve the problem"
Who thinks our system of government is about to undergo a major overhaul? What enterprise should be allowed to run up a $12 Trillion tab? How is that even possible? I guess if you print your own money you answer the possibility question. But the other two questions may be a bit more complex.
The President may have the right idea with his message of change. However, I am not convinced the blueprint he desires is what's best for America, or the World. I suspect his decisions have been more about gaining control than providing a truly lasting governmental process. I think he wants get support from various groups of citizens, in order to give him license to gain more control. Governmental corporate control, and now health care control. If not stopped, I fear we will fall into a system which will rob us of any chance for freedom.
As a republic of states and commonwealth's, joined together under one federal government, it is clear that society as a whole has outgrown the slow, unproductive, yet secretive government. It is easy to keep citizens in the dark under the guise of security. It feels more and more like the attacks on the homeland have done more to hurt the American people by a more intrusive government than in causing a change in policy. I propose policy change is just what we need.
The nation has grown to large to try and handle everything from the "home office". A non-federal, state's sanctioned process which creates "regional" representation should be considered. Imagine California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Arizona working together to solve the regions problems, with the authority to balance out a budget subsidized from both the state and federal level. What if the "elected regional manager" was set up on a performance basis, tied into regional productivity both to the nation as a whole, and to the region.
Then let's rearrnge the Oval Office. The current cabinet structure should be adjusted. It should be split in two, a domestic cabinet, and an international cabinet. twice a year the two could have a combined session with the Pres, but the President should be able to focus on the country in a manner that allows for productivity to be measured and address through different channels. Accountability is foremost, and results are independently measured. The regional people either hit goals and acheive, or we call an election and replace them.
Wouldn't that be attractive to everyone. Seven regions of the US, each competing for business and domestic action. Good managers get recognized, bad ones find another job, quickly.
Then each region will contribute to the National Debt reduction by generating results which will be applied to the debt, help get it under control, then work to move forward for a fruitful and profitable America.
