What Are You Doing for Earth Day?

Ever get a Labor Day Card?  Probably not.  Well, every Labor Day I send out a Labor Day Card to my current and potential customers.  Why? Because a Labor Day Card is directly related to what I do and it’s unique - differentiating me and my business from the competition.  I don’t send out Christmas Cards.  Why?  They are not related to what I do and they have little or no impact - they just get lost in the Christmas card clutter.

Do I know if my Labor Day card has any impact in generating customer TOMA (Top Of Mind Awareness)? When I visit a customer I often see my Labor Day card somewhere in their office.  So, even though I can’t directly connect the card to an increase in business, I do know it’s not in the trash.  Can you say that about your promotional material?

An example of a business taking advantage of an event is Majean – a local restaurant we enjoy and eat at regularly.  Majean is advertising an April 15th Tax Day Special and is paying the taxes for the meal! Clever and original and, yes, we will dining there on April 15th.

Here’s a thought:  April 22nd is Earth Day. If you are in any way promoting your business as a Green Business isn’t this an excellent opportunity to impress this fact on your customers and potential customers with a card or a business special wrapped about Earth Day?

The Bottom Line: Always be looking for opportunities where you can connect what you do to your current and potential customers in ways that will generate TOMA so when the customer is ready to buy they buy from you.
