The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) was created
to advance and share supply chain knowledge research and has been an
invaluable resource in my career. The organization provides a space for
supply chain management professionals to communicate and share
experiences, advancing management skills and understanding, while also
conducting its own research to add to the base of theory and practical
knowledge.

CSCMP operates under the umbrella of three primary goals. First, it
works to develop and define our understanding of the supply chain
management profession, creating a well of accessible information, while
recruiting new professionals and providing them with the most current
training and education. Second, the organization promotes networking for
mutual education, communication, and research through global
roundtables and an annual educational conference. CSCMP strives to
maintain the highest level of communication with its members and
encourages its constituents to work with each other to advance their
skills and improve their understanding of the profession. Third, CSCMP
operates within the bounds of sound business practices and expects its
members to do the same. It does not, however, wish to be a rigid
organization. CSCMP is a flexible and responsive association, but it is
built upon the necessary infrastructure for achieving its purpose as a
professional organization.

The heart and soul of CSCMP is its committees, which are all designed to
serve the organization’s members in a certain well-defined capacity.
Each committee is filled with organization volunteers who represent a
wide variety of industries and a number of geographic locations around
the globe, ensuring that all voices are heard. Member committees include
those for organizing the annual conference; developing programming;
communicating with students, educators, and institutions; managing
finances; strategic planning; overseeing information technology;
handling membership issues; evaluating projects for research; and
advising the roundtable discussions.

The CSCMP is headed by a Board of Directors composed of four elected
officers: the Chair of the Board of Directors, Board Chair Elect, Board
Vice Chair, and Secretary/Treasurer. The Immediate Past Chair of the
Board of Directors, the Chairs of the standing committees, and the
President/CEO also serve as ex officio members of the Board of
Directors.
